The Hazleton Art League highlights the works of multimedia artist Arthur Dworin. An oil painter & sculpture, Dworin works with patinas of bronze and iron, then oxidized. He creates organic and geometric shapes that are raised from the surface of his works. Dworin creates interpretive forms that resonate musically with his own spiritual explorations. In his words, Dworin hopes that “the spirit in these works will act as a key to awaken what is already deep within the observer, anew with each viewing, bringing a greater awareness of our inner and outer universes.

About Arthur Dworin
Organic and geometric shapes have long populated Arthur Dworin’s work, however, Dworin’s work has evolved towards a 3-dimensional language by allowing those organic shapes to be raised off of the surface. Dworin works in an alchemical way by utilizing bronze coated with a high iron content patina. Dworin steps into the realm of chemistry by oxidizing the bronze to produce a rich rust against his oil paintings to create contrast between the bands and fields of brilliant color.
Peter Selz, a former MOMA curator of painting and sculpture and one of Dworin’s collectors has said that “Dworin’s paintings are endowed with an original sense of sonorous color. Abstract as they are, they bring a new sense of visual order to organic forms of nature.”
