Classical modern meets modern classical in this dual exhibition featuring artists, Marcy Lanza and David Corrado. Maybe it Was Just a Dream, formed as a result of this collaboration between the two artists to showcase the variety of one another's artistic forms of expression. Corrado’s paintings provides the viewer plenty of information in his traditional realism portraits, while Lanza provides the viewer with abstracted works left for open interpretation. In this exhibit, Marcy Lanza and David Corrado encourage us to immerse ourselves into the juxtaposition of unconventional and traditional artworks.

About the Artists

Marcy Lanza, painter and mixed media artist

Marcy Lanza, a classical modern, was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Her father worked for various periodicals and always brought home lots of paper. As a kid, Lanza drew her own creations on that paper, not bothering with coloring books. After marriage and raising a family, Lanza followed her dream and went to The Art Students League in New York City. After graduating, Lanza lived in Liverpool, England for 14 years. While there, Lanza explored deeper into her use of traditional and unconventional media in her paintings; which allowed her art to grow and expand to greater possibilities. Lanza recounts her methods of experimentation by combining the use of oil and watercolor, or pushing the boundaries of media further by painting with rotten cherries. Marcy Lanza also made use of her time during the beginning pandemic years to produce a number of pieces which she refers to as her "pandemic pieces". Lanza favors pens and markers due to their ready availability. Much of her work is abstract with fine lines and brilliant colors. The viewer may also find flowers, and nude figures appearing in some of her work.

David Corrado, illustrator, graphic novelist, and painter

Modern classical, David Corrado, is a native of northeast Pennsylvania. Corrado is a painter in the traditional sense as well as an illustrator and author of graphic novels. Corrado was first inspired by his grandfather who introduced him to the art of drawing and painting. After graduating from Penn State University, Corrado went on to complete altar paintings for churches, portraits for RC Theaters, and murals for both an American Legion and town hall.

The Legend of Alastar is Corrado’s first published graphic novel (available on amazon.com). In recent years, Corrado appeared twice as a guest on WBRE TV's PA Live- once to discuss his book, and again to display an oil painting that took him a year to complete, entitled Young Mona's Smile; which is also featured in this month's show. The work is painted on wood glazed with oil and framed in gold leaf.
