Solo Estamos de Pasadita
A solo exhibition featuring artist, César Viveros.
On View: May 5 — May 28, 2023.
César Viveros’ work is inspired by the individual stories of communities he has served. Viveros, mostly known as a muralist, has been giving voice to various marginalized communities by documenting and visually depicting their experiences for over 15 years.
Through various mural projects and ongoing collaborations with Mural Arts Philadelphia, Viveros brings emphasis to voices of communities who often go unheard by making the facades of public architecture and environments the substrate for his work. These particular choices of environment further brings forth compelling stories related to mental health, navigation of prison and family court systems, immigration, uplifting of low income neighborhoods, and more to the eyes of the general public. Some of Viveros’ work also include the celebration of Mexican cultural heritage through performances of Aztec dances and ceremonies, assemblage of miniature altars, sculptures, fresco paintings, mosaics and feather work.
Viveros’ work has been shown in various spaces such as the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Fleisher Art Memorial, and the Kimmel Center.
